I am a current PhD student conducting research into RNA-based approaches to induce 'beiging' of white adipocytes and subsequently, activating their newly acquired thermogenic capabilities. This shows promise as a powerful therapeutic strategy to combat the increasing burden of obesity and metabolic disease on society.
Originally from the UK, I previously completed my undergraduate studies in Biochemistry followed by a Masters of Research in The Biology of Ageing at UCL, London.
My MRes project explored the ‘Onion Model of Ageing’ in C. elegans, with the main focus being on that of tumour formation as the primary life-limiting factor, and the prevention/treatment of this to extend lifespan. My primary interests lie broadly in the fields of ageing, 'healthspan' and preventative medicine.
